Early on in this week I tried to download flipaclip and as it turned out my laptop wouldn't allow me to. Flipaclip in order to download had to have lots of other things downloaded in order to download it. As I was looking for a new animation software I was trying to find a free one but every one I looked at billed you about $200 yearly. I got very frustrated that most things I was looking at weren't going to work. Most of the software said they were free but they only had a free trail and would bill you after it ran out. After a good while of trying to find an actually free and up to date software I came across opentoonz. I looked into opentoonz a lot and found out you can download it normally and it's free. After I had downloaded it I tested it out and figured out most of the features and started making my first animation. While I was making my animation I tried to draw my character but realized I needed to think that out some more and I have decided to give it a black outline. The animation is pretty easy to do on opentoonz and I am going to stick with my original plan of using 15 fps. The weekly goal I'm making for myself is to have 80 or more frames drawn. My first animation was about 75 frames but it was only a test and I think its pretty good for a test run. The animation was of a blob forming and growing a face then at the end it smiled, it looks pretty smooth and I really like how it turned out. I haven't messed around with the background yet or the different layers but I plan to during week 3. I also plan to create my first design of my character soon, I don't really know how it will turn out but I hope it looks good in the end. As well as being new to animation drawing with a mouse is a lot harder than drawing normally which is making the progress a little slower but I'll get the hang of it and I know I'll be able to draw some good things eventually.

During this week I tried a couple different animation software. The first one I tried I decided not to use because I got frustrated after drawing on one frame and it would add it to every frame. I had watched videos prior to experimenting with the software but it just didn't work out for me. After I had done some more research on good free software I had also asked some of my friends what they used to draw on because they also do some animation. I came to the conclusion that I would use flip-a-clip, it has the options I wanted in a software and it is free and has its own tutorials. As well as the software I'd like to use I also figured out the fps I want to work with which is about 15 fps (frames per second), I asked my friends again and they recommended that to me. Somewhere during this week I was daydreaming and came up with an idea for what I wanted my character to be. The character will be a thin mushroom with the top mushroom part being purple and the stalk of the mushroom being green. A lot of the animators I enjoy are story-time based animators and usually tell a story during their animation and I have made it a goal to work up to that eventually. One of the story-time animators I like is Gingerpale and below there is a picture of his character. I really like the way he draws things and makes them look very cartoony. The way that I'm going to make my character is I'm going to exaggerate the features, I'll make it very skinny with big eyes and distinctive features. Another thing I realized while in the planning stage of this project is that I want to make some funny videos. I think being funny is very important if you want people to actually like what you create and I think it would be nice to make something funny and enjoyable for everyone. Making people laugh is a really cool thing to do and it would be great if I could get some people to smile with what I've done. Not all the videos I make will be comedic, I will only include a few or more. For the most part the animations will just be testing how things look and figuring out the best way to make things move.
